24x24 Storage Unit Size Guide: Exact Dimensions & What Fits

Most storage websites make you guess. Here are the exact, measured dimensions of our units in Park Rapids — doors, interior, and drive lane — plus an honest guide to what fits and what doesn't. Measure your stuff, compare, and you'll know before you reserve.

What Fits: The Two Numbers That Decide

For anything on wheels, two measurements decide the fit: total length (coupler or tongue included) must be under 23 ft 4 in, and total height (roof A/C, antennas, folded bimini) must clear the 10 ft door.

Inside those limits: most fishing boats and runabouts on trailers, smaller pontoons, pop-up campers, camper vans, travel trailers under about 23 ft overall, utility trailers, ATVs, side-by-sides, snowmobiles, lawn tractors, and a full household worth of furniture. Too big for indoors — fifth wheels, Class A motorhomes, most Class C motorhomes, longer travel trailers — can use our outdoor spaces instead.

How a 24x24 Compares to Standard Units

One of our units gives you more floor than two standard 10x20 units combined — as one open, drive-in space instead of two narrow tunnels.

Unit sizeFloor areaTypical use
10x10 standard100 sq ft1–2 rooms of boxes and furniture
10x20 standard200 sq ftSmall household or one vehicle, packed tight
10x30 standard300 sq ftLarger household, still a narrow tunnel

Measure Before You Move In

A five-minute checklist that prevents a bad moving day:

  • Trailer: coupler to rear bumper or prop, total length
  • Height at the tallest point (A/C, antenna, bimini)
  • Width at mirrors or fenders (door is 10 ft wide)
  • Add a foot of clearance for comfort
  • Unsure? Call us with the numbers — we know what fits

Size Guide FAQs

How big is a 24x24 storage unit really?

Our 24x24 units are nominal exterior dimensions. The actual interior measures 23 ft 9 in wide by 23 ft 4 in deep — about 555 square feet of usable floor, with a 10 ft wide by 10 ft tall garage door and a separate walk-in door.

Will my boat and trailer fit in a 24x24 unit?

If your total trailer length, coupler to prop, is under 23 ft 4 in and the boat clears the 10 ft door height with the bimini folded, it fits. That covers most fishing boats, runabouts, and smaller pontoons.

Will my camper or travel trailer fit?

Total length including the tongue must be under 23 ft 4 in, and total height including roof A/C must clear the 10 ft door. Pop-ups and campers under about 23 ft overall usually fit; fifth wheels and most Class C motorhomes do not.

How does a 24x24 compare to standard storage units?

A 10x10 unit is 100 square feet and a 10x20 is 200. One of our units is about 555 usable square feet — more room than two 10x20 units side by side, in one open space you can walk around in.

Is there room to back a trailer into the unit?

Yes. The drive lane between buildings is 31 ft 10 in wide, which gives most drivers comfortable room to line up and back in.
